Arabanın yaşı ne kadar küçükse vergisi o kadar fazladır. Araba yaşına göre en fazla vergi 1-3 yaşında olan arabalardan alınmaktadır. Ödemeden sonra belgeyi resmi işlemlerde kullanmak isterseniz çıktısını alıp bağlı bulunduğunuz vergi dairesine onaylatmanız yeterli olacaktır. Mükellefiyet motorlu kara araçlarında trafiğe kayıt edildiği tarihten itibaren başlar. Aracınız trafiğe ilk defa tescil ediliyorsa ve tescil ilk 6 ay içinde yapılmış ise 1 Ocaktan yılın ikinci yarısının herhangi bir zamanında alınmışsa o zaman 1 Temmuz tarihi itibari ile motorlu taşıtlar mükellefi olursunuz. Eğer aracın daha önceden trafiğe kayıt ve tescili varsa devir ya da temlik sonucu el değiştirmekteyse mükellefiyet ilk 6 ay içinde yapılırsa 01 Temmuzdan yılın ikinci altı ayında yapılırsa ertesi yılın 1 Ocağında başlar. Vergi hesaplanma şekli olarak aracın cinsine göre kanunda belirtilen oranlara göre fiyat belirlenir. Araç vergisi aracın niteliğine göre otobüs minibüs kamyon, panelvan olması ödenecek vergi tutarında değişiklik göstermektedir. Aracın yaşı ve silindir hacmine göre belirlenen oranlar üzerinden karşımıza vergi tahakkuk ettirilecektir. kamyon kamyonet ve otobüslerde yaşının yanı sıra bir de toplam ağırlığı dikkate alınmaktadır. Otobüslerde is koltuk sayısı belirleyici etkendir. Kimler Ödemek Zorundadır? Trafik şubelerine kayıt olmuş bütün kara taşıtları ve sivil Havacılığa kayıt olmuş bütün hava taşıtları ve liman siciline kayıt olmuş bütün motorlu deniz taşıtları bu vergiyi ödemek zorundadırlar. Belediyeler, il özel idareler, köy tüzel kişilikleri, Kızılay gibi resmi kurumlar bu vergiden muaftır. Kimler Muaftır? Ayrıca sakatlık oranının %90 ve üzeri olması eskiden borcu olmaması kaydıyla hurdaya ayrılan araçlar ve karşılıklılık olma şartıyla yabancı ülke araçları bu vergiden muaf tutulmaktadırlar.
